After much fruitless searching on this forum, I have decided to start my own post for my problem. Certain video files will not play audio when streamed to my PS3. The videos with no sound over Tversity still have sound when played on my computer, and I can get them to stream audio through Tversity only if I set the transcoder to "Always Transcode". However, transcoding slows down my computer and I would think that Tversity should know when it is and is not appropriate to transcode. Here's the information (taken from CCCP Insurgent tool http://www.cccp-project.net/) on a couple of cases I've had problems with:
Video 1: AVI Movie:
Video Stream 0:
- Frames: 23.976 fps, 843 Kbps
- Codec: XVID (Family: MPEG-4)
- Dimensions: 512x384
- Encoder: XviD0046
Audio Stream 0:
- Codec: MPEG-1 Audio layer 3, MPEG-1A L3,
- Bitrate: 2 Channel @ 135 Kbps VBR 48kHz
- Encoder: LAME3.90.
Video 2: AVI Movie:
Video Stream 0:
- Frames: 23.976 fps, 978 Kbps
- Codec: XVID (Family: MPEG-4)
- Dimensions: 624x336
- Encoder: XviD0046
Audio Stream 0:
- Codec: AC3, 2000, Dolby AC3
- Bitrate: 2 CHannel @ 192 Kbps CBR 48 KHz
Now, after comparing the information from the files whose sound doesn't work through tversity to the specs of the ones that do work, I have noticed that all my non-working audio has a bitrate above 128 kbps, and all my working files are below 128 kbps. This is just a hunch, but my conclusion is that Tversity seem to think that the PS3 can handle this bitrate without transcoding, but the PS3 says "Dude, I'm lazy and don't feel like doing that so if you shove that bitrate at me one more time I'm going to catch on fire and BURN YOUR HOUSE TO THE GROUND!" So... is my PS3 busted because it won't do bitrates over 128kbps, or is that normal and Tversity should know to transcode it, or is it something else glaringly obvious that I haven't thought of yet? I hope to her some insight soon.
